Cubewerkz: Supporting Southeast Asia’s Best Cubers on the World Stage
Founded in 2012 by David Ang, Cubewerkz is a leading puzzle retailer, organizer of speedcubing competitions, and training provider in Singapore, with worldwide e-commerce shipping to over 200 countries.
Beyond fostering the local cubing community, Cubewerkz’s primary focus is supporting top cubers from Southeast Asia in their competitive journey.
- Rubik’s World Championship 2023, Incheon, South Korea: Team Cubewerkz secured 2 Golds and 2 Silvers, including Singapore’s first-ever World Championship Gold in Megaminx through Tristan Chua. Philip Maxwell from Indonesia earned Silver in 3x3 Blindfold.
- Rubik’s WCA Asia Championship 2024: The team brought home 3 Golds, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronzes, with Singapore earning 2 Bronzes through Nigel Phang and Wong Chong Wen. Indonesian Philip Maxwell followed up his World Championship Silver with Gold in 3x3 Blindfold. Vietnam’s Do Quang Hung won 2 Golds (4x4 and 6x6) and 1 Silver (5x5).
- Rubik’s WCA World Championship 2025, Seattle: Despite a smaller contingent, Team Cubewerkz made a strong mark. Beth Lee was crowned Female Megaminx World Champion, and Emmanuel Kao reached 3 finals.
- Singapore Kempinski Rubik’s 50th Anniversary 2024: Cubewerkz had the rare honor of organizing Rubik’s 50th Anniversary competition in Singapore, in partnership with the Hungary Embassy and The Capitol Kempinski Hotel. This endorsement recognized Cubewerkz as a key partner in promoting the Rubik’s Cube, and the event continued successfully in 2025.
- Asia MindSport Festival 2025 – SpeedCubing Segment: Cubewerkz partnered with the Asia MindSport Association and Yong Jun Toys to bring SpeedCubing to the public, showcasing the Rubik’s Cube as both a competitive sport and a STEM learning tool.
Locally, Cubewerkz has organized major competitions such as the Cubewerkz Open, Singapore AMKCC Cubing events, and Singapore Newcomers 2024, while the Cubewerkz Cubing Academy has conducted over 5,000 lessons for more than 1,000 students across schools, student care programs, and voluntary welfare organizations.
With a commitment to excellence, community development, and international support, Cubewerkz continues to inspire cubers, promote STEM learning through puzzles, and elevate Southeast Asia’s presence on the global cubing stage.
Beginner-Friendly Classes for Families
Cubewerkz also offers beginner-friendly classes designed specially for families who want to learn together. These sessions introduce the fundamentals of solving the Rubik’s Cube and other mechanical puzzles in a fun, relaxed environment suitable for all ages. Parents and children pick up problem-solving skills side by side, enjoy quality bonding time, and build a shared sense of achievement as they complete their first solves together.
